Light a Candle
This past weekend, I was overwhelmed with gratitude to see over a hundred of our friends and neighbors pack into Sketchbook Brewery in Skokie. This was a chance to celebrate the volunteers who powered our campaign and who will be the key to winning in November.

Saturday was a chance to say thank you, and to launch our general election campaign. We need to carry this energy forward, building a vigorous campaign that competes everywhere.
But that’s not all we’re going to do. We were joined by Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, who has always channeled the power of this district of activists, of world changers, to advance progressive causes and candidates far beyond our community’s borders.
This election will decide whether we can put a stop to Donald Trump, MAGA and a full slide into authoritarianism. That’s because a Democratic Congress is how we stop Donald Trump’s attacks on everything we hold dear. Trump and the Republicans are rigging the electoral system and if we want to ensure a fair presidential election in 2028, we need to start winning power back now.
With democracy, affordability, dignity and basic human rights on the line, I’m asking you to join us. We need to organize. We need to mobilize across the Midwest. We need to win back the House and Senate. And we need YOU in order to do that.
We were also joined by Patrick Hanley, my future State Senator and co-founder of Operation Swing State, the network that mobilized thousands of people in the last election cycle. OSS is back and ready to get to work flipping House and Senate seats in Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio.
To everyone who has given their time to this campaign: from the bottom of my heart, thank you. If you’re looking for a sign to get off the sidelines and into this fight — here it is! Please sign up here and join us as we knock doors, make calls and write post-cards for the races that can win us back power in Washington!
I keep thinking of the proverb: better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Volunteering to elect more Democrats is how we light a candle.
Thank you for being in this fight,
Daniel
